Level up in your nature photography skills in this one-of-a-kind waterfall photography workshop. Get ready for an incredible day of adventure in the Ozarks, all while learning the basic skills necessary for stunning waterfall photography. Have you seen those beautiful pictures of water running off of cliffs and it looks like silk? You’ll learn how to capture images just like that, whether you have a dslr or an iPhone!

We will get the opportunity to photograph two different waterfalls today. Our first hike will be at Kings River Trail. The trail is 1.8 miles out and back with the main event being the Kings River Falls- a 10-ft high waterfall with a large swimming hole below that is a very popular spot in the summer to cool off. Here we will learn about camera settings, lighting, and composition basics and how to create that silky water effect. We will spend about an hour at the falls taking pictures, exploring, and eating lunch.

After our first hike we will drive about 40 minutes to Glory Falls Trail. This trail is about 2 miles out and back and is relatively moderate. Be careful though, the trail can be a little slick at times and it goes slightly uphill on the way out. The waterfall here is one of the most unique waterfalls in the Ozarks. Glory Falls was created over time by Dismal Creek drilling a hole through an overhanging bluff. After a good rain the sight is really stunning! We will spend some time here refreshing our memories with what we learned about waterfall photography in the morning, taking photos, and exploring.

After a couple hours here, we’ll drive back to Springfield after an adventurous day exploring & photographing the Ozarks.

There will be an option to stay after the tour is over and get a coffee or snack at The Press in Farmer’s Park before you head home for the evening. We will share our best photos of the day with other group members and solidify everything we’ve learned about photography throughout the day.
