Event Details

Capturing the colors of fall is a unique opportunity for anyone interested in photography – vivid colors can transform any scene into a blanket of organge, red, and yellow hues. You don't need to be an expert to come on this trip, even a camera phone will do. On this introduction trip you will learn; basic camera functions, what makes a good photo, exposure, contrast, and how to find the perfect

There is no place quite as enthralling as Sam’s Throne to admire – and capture – the vibrant beauty of autumn. Bring a camera on this invigorating walk through some of the most fascinating rock formations and spectacular views in the Ozarks, and you’ll learn how to compose the engaging outdoor shots that will enable you to create and share your own adventurous narrative. We'll begin the day early to take full advantage of picturesque morning light, hiking 1.25 miles over mild terrain to arrive at Sam's Throne. Learn basic camera settings and outdoor lighting techniques while creating compelling compositions of the surrounding landscape, then put your skills to the test on the 1.25 mile walk back to the trailhead. On the return trip, a stop at the Cliff House Inn provides an opportunity to compare photos, chat about what we've learned, and capture breathtaking views of the Arkansas “Grand Canyon” in its fall splendor.
